Group Education

All Second Step Housing residents are required to attend Group Education twice per month. Childcare is available.

Topics include:

Client's are encouraged to request topics that they would find valuable and interesting for their Group Education/Life Skills classes.

Tenant Education Program of Clark County

TEPCC is a six-week rental education class designed to help self-motivated people learn how to be successful renters and deal with barriers to rental housing, such as:

Participants receive information, encouragement, and specific guidance to overcome any barriers, manage money, find affordable housing, and be a responsible tenant.

TEPCC is offered to the public six times a year. See the TEPPC page for more information and to apply.

Nurturing Parenting

Sponsored by DASA (Drug Alcohol and Substance Abuse).

Targeted towards parents, caregivers, and/or affected family members with children (ages 0-18). Parents, caregivers and/or affected family members are in treatment, recovery, involved in the criminal justice system, experiencing domestic violence or homelessness, and/or are experiencing other issues that place families at-risk.

Offered Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. for 10 weeks. Childcare is provided and a light supper is included. Class is free of charge and open to the public, although we are only serving female participants at this time.

Nurturing Parent is a great tool for new parents, parents in need of a refresher, and those that simply want to be the best parents they can be.

Women Helping Women

An adult mentoring program that matches Second Step residents with community women who provide companionship, encouragement, and role modeling.

Mentors and mentees regularly meet casually to socialize. Second Step, or the mentors as a group, may also occasionally coordinate group activities for mentors and mentees to share.

Clark College’s Displaced Homemakers program

Offers a 6 credit class that covers three major areas:

This is a free program. It is offered each quarter; classes meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for four weeks.
